The Challenge
High variability in box quality with no available box specifications for many important variables (ECT/burst, fluting, coating, air-flow/water resistance, ply strength, smoothness, CoF, fiber quality).
Our Approach
- Used supplier data/paper properties as proxies for box qualities
- Tested across box specs, construction, coating, product weight, and environmental factors (68F/50%RH vs 95F/95%RH)
The Impact
Identified failure mechanisms (delamination, bending, torque, box failure, CoF slip, moisture) to guide additional testing and possible equipment modifications to improve the operational window.
